DIY with a pair of skinnies

ok, so if this post looks in any way familiar Yes you are absolutely correct. back in April i had posted this DIY and in a series of unfortunate events involving my laptop the original post got completely deleted from my blog.
since i got some really good feedback from some of you and had tons of fun doing this DIY i am posting [re]posting it.

so originally this post got inspired by a pair of jeans i saw at anthropologie. i never tried them on as the price just blew me away $188. crazy! at home i checked online and found the Elliot Stiletto Crops with painted on polka dots. well guess what? i didn't even think about it twice i grabbed one of my extra pairs of skinnies and my paint supplies and 40 min. later i had my own polka dotted skinnies.
here they are what do you think?

here is what you need:

a pair of skinny jeans
round hole puncher
piece of cardboard hole punched
container to mix paint in
white acrylic paint
textile medium
stiffling brush
iron

  • mix your acrylic paint and textile medium according to the directions [usually a ratio 1:2 ]
  • punch holes into the cardboard about 1 inch apart [see what appeals to you] this will be your stencil.  personaly i like the small polka dots so a regular hole puncher works just perfect for me
  • place your jeans on a flat surface
  • now begin to place the hole stencil on the jeans.
  • load your brush [making sure to not overload it] remember less is more :)
  • stencil away, shifting your stencil in the next row. continue on until you have done the whole front/back let dry and continue on the other side. let dry
  • most textile paint needs to be set with heat so read the directions on your textile medium you might need to iron your "new" polka dotted skinnies

hope you love your polka dotted skinnies as much as i do ! :)
